DESCRIPTION:
This is my grandfather, Cantor Emanuel "Manny" Mandel singing the Kol Nidre. This recording was made in the late 1990's.

Cantor Mandel co-founded with Sonny Levitt the original Levitt Memorial Chapel of which he was President and Administrator. He was a full-time Cantor for seven years at Congregation B'nai Raphael in North Miami Beach, was the High Holiday Cantor for 27 years at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Orlando, spent seven years at Congregation B'nai Israel in Coral Springs, served as the National Jewish War Veterans Cantor from 1961 -- 1986, and was the former Chaplain of the Shomrim Society of Florida and the Footlighters.

Cantor Mandel was a member of the Golden Glades Masonic Lodge 334, was past Chancellor Commander of the North Miami Beach Lodge 195 Knights of Pythias, was the past Commander of the Abe Horrowitz Jewish War Veterans Post 682, was the past Florida Jewish War Veterans State Commander, was honored as "Man Of TheYear" by the Teddy Grant Chapter City of Hope, and together with his beloved wife, Miriam, were the 1979 honorees at Temple Adath Yeshuran's State of Israel Banquet.

In his final words on film, Gene Kelly quoted Irving Berlin and said, "The song is over but the melody lingers on."
