ULTRA RARE live Jethro Tull from 1975 (Pro-Shot, Synch-Sound) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 19, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
NEVER BEFORE SEEN BY THE YOUTUBE COMMUNITY.
This is not the mimed lip-synched "Minstrel in the Gallery" clip from 1975 that everyone has seen already. This is film footage of the REAL LIVE performance of Minstrel in the Gallery from their Paris show at the Palais des Sportes on July 5th, 1975. (Multi-camera, pro-shot, synch sound)
I'm only showing a tiny clip of it... until I can digitally remaster the original to enhance the video quality because this footage is several generations removed from the master tape. Actually, the quality you see here is even worse than the footage I have because I'm just videotaping my computer screen, and then downloading it from my video camera.
This clip shows just Ian and his acoustic guitar doing the acoustic intro to Minstrel in the Gallery. I also have the footage of him introducing the song to the audience... and talking to the audience about what the song means. You see, this was the tail end of the WARCHILD tour, and the MINSTREL Lp hadn't been released yet.
After the acoustic part finishes... Martin Barre and Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond take over to do the heavy instrumental part of the song. This is the only pro-shot, synch-sound footage I've EVER seen of Jeffrey Hammond on stage. This is HISTORIC.
75 minutes of this Paris show where filmed. Ian has it in the can for the 50th Anniversay of the band. An audio portion (Critique Oblique from A PASSION PLAY) of the film appears on the 25th Annivesary box set. Everything else has been kept under wraps.
And that mimed footage of Minstrel everyone has seen was filmed earlier in the day of that concert... BEFORE the audience arrived.
I hope true Tull fanatics will appreciate the significance of this footage. The only pro-shot, synch-sound footage of the WHOLE Jeffrey Hammond progressive era of Jethor Tull (1971-1975).
