Marcie Forrest (nee Schreier), an accomplished and versatile singer and flautist, has been living in Israel since 1980. Born and raised in the US, Marcie studied classical flute in college (back in the USA) and has had several years of training as a vocalist (in Israel). She has sung in several choirs in Israel and performed as a soloist with an Operatic Society during a brief relocation to the UK in the late 90s.
Having grown up on rock music, she later became enamoured with music from the 16th-17th centuries. As a vocalist, Marcie has studied and worked with distinguished musicians in the area of Early Music, in addition to performing her own program of Renaissance and Baroque songs from Spain with accompanist/guitarist Philip Griffin.
Marcie has had the privilege to perform with many wonderful and talented musicians in Israel, including Shay Tochner, Betty Maoz, Shelley Ellen, the late Larry Gamliel, Philip Griffin, Tal Korenberg, Gali Glickman, Elisha Avshalom, Ofer Groman, Maayan Carmeli and Eitan Hoffer, on TV, radio, at Jacob's Ladder Folk Festival and at several folk and night clubs here in Israel.
Marcie and Paul Forrest who initially met here on Myspace.com over 3 years ago, are now part of an exciting new group called
Footsteps, and have released their first CD, "Together With a Vengeance" now available for purchase at CD Baby. The CD features songs written during their long separation inflicted upon them by harsh UK immigration laws that led to Marcie's refusal into the UK in June of 2009, based on a bureaucratic technicality. Prior to her refusal, Marcie was locked in a holding facility for 9 hours, photographed, fingerprinted and interrogated before being sent back to Israel.

The theme of the CD revolves around the subject of a human rights violation of a very different kind. The songs, upbeat and rocky in nature, bring a message of protest against a system which places rules and regulations before the rights of two people from different countries to be together, but also bring a message of hope for better things to come.
The couple, happily reunited in February of 2010, now make their home in a small town in the north of Israel (where immigration laws are much more reasonable ;-)), and are starting to hit the Israeli live music scene. They have already made an appearance at Jacob's Ladder Festival, and performed their "British Classic Rock" show in the summer, which will also feature songs from the new CD.

Marcie and Paul are currently taking a more acoustic direction and are preparing a new show which will feature songs from the renaissance and baroque periods, as well as their original acoustic music.
