Party Time Man - The Futures (lp 'Past, Present & The Futures' PIR Records 1978) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 23, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Whilst I was digging out the Spinners album, I pulled out this set, which is another record which is often destined for a dance floor near me! On Philadelphia International Records in 1978, this album represents the harder to find music from that imprint. This is such a joyful piece of music, which not many folks realise is a cover version of an old beach music tune. The original version was by a group called the Catalina's from an album called 'Summertime's Calling Me' in 1980 (but recorded earlier). Penned by lesser known Philly writers Ted Wortham and Sherman Marshall, who are both responsible for many Soul classics, including 'The Whole Town's Laughing At Me'. The Catalina's take is a blue eyed soul interpretation, which is very expensive, luckily it is not as good as the Futures version, so I should be happy with that take if you are looking for the best version!
