Today must be the first day of spring.
Look at the sunshine and butterflies and other springy things.
The air is sweet deep here in the belly of the beastly city.
Even up here in Harlem, sometimes it looks pretty nice.
But I’m going through these changes,

Down at my job they had to send me home.
With those jokers there I feel so alone.
A shrink thinks I could be suffering with stress.
Momma Mary Jane told me,

Girls are like men with their boyish tricks.
And it’s hard to be real
It’s just another part of the mix.
