Artist Biography: The Crimson Star is looking to add its name to the list of great bands from the West Midlands, as it uses 2013 to start carving out its own piece of rock history.

Formed in Birmingham in October 2012 by singer/guitarist James Shaw and drummer Ross Edgington -- both veterans of the local scene as founder members of metal outfit Forlorn -- and completed in early 2013 by bassist Chris Rowley and guitarist Dave Musson, the second city's latest rock outfit is ready to make its mark.

After a frustrating early search for a suitable guitarist and bassist, James and Ross decided to first focus their efforts on recording some songs, and headed into Rapture Audio Recording Studios for two days in October 2012. Under the watchful eye of producer James Walford, the duo recorded the The Crimson Star's debut EP, called 'New Road'.

The Crimson Star released the 'New Road' EP in August 2013.

Birmingham hard rock band The Crimson Star has today launched a mouth-watering video for its song The Greed Effect, with a little help from an international competitive eating celebrity.
The upcoming rockers enlisted the help of American professional eater, bodybuilder and TV star Randy Santel to star in the video, which was entirely shot and produced by the band themselves.
The video uses footage of Santel conquering the Monster Dog challenge at Smokey's Joint in Walsall last December, as part of his European tour of food challenges.
The previously undefeated Monster Dog contained 1.5kg of beef sausage, 2lb of chilli con carne, was topped with Monterey Jack cheese and jalapeno peppers and was served in a metre-long bread roll with a side order of fries and coleslaw.
Santel ate the lot -- all 13,000 calories of it -- in 46 minutes and The Crimson Star were on hand to catch the man vs food escapades on camera.
The rest of the video is made up of performance footage of the band, which was shot at Birmingham's Studio 197.
This video is not the first time The Crimson Star and Randy Santel have joined forces; twice in 2013, Santel used songs by The Crimson Star as soundtracks for his own videos after becoming friends via Facebook.
The Crimson Star's singer/guitarist Jay Shaw said: "We've thought for a long time that using Randy in a video would be a lot of fun and something a bit different from what you usually see. Randy was more than happy to help us out and we soon realised that -- given the nature of Randy's part -- we had to make the video for The Greed Effect. The title was just perfect!"
Randy Santel added: "Beating the Monster Dog in Walsall was the most important food challenge to me of the whole tour, so to have it immortalised in a rocking music video is awesome! I'm a big fan of The Crimson Star and they've been kind enough to let me use their music on my videos, so it's great return the favour."
