DESCRIPTION:
JACK WESSEL has played bass in the band for LEON RUSSELL for about thirty years. That is longer than many marriages.

Jack's bass line is the counterpart backbone to Leon's driving piano. His superb tenor voice has provided harmonies these many years and is featured in every performance. He has been Leon's ambassador to the public on tour and has always been loyal, patient and graceful with the millions of adoring fans.

He makes what he does look easy. It isn't. Recognition is overdue.

This impromptu "interview" just before the Pleasure Island Festival show (10/09/10) was conducted one week before the new ELTON JOHN and LEON RUSSELL album THE UNION (produced by T-Bone Burnett) release. Yes, you can hear the beach wind.

This was the last solo performance date before the UNION performances began. It was John Lennon's 70th birthday. It was a great opportunity in history to feature Jack Wessel, whom we admire appropriately like Carl Radle and the luminaries before him.

Jackie is a man that deserves a LOT of credit for sticking with Leon through the lean years, bless him! A great talent, and a patient man who's not had an easy life of it. I really really hope that the band get 'dragged' up alongside of Leon. :-)

Mark/Midnight - nice work! Jackie has been the official greeter on Leon's bus for years. He's always patiently waiting on the anxious fans trying to get Leon's signature after the shows and kindly speaking to us Leon freaks before the shows. Thanks for the scoop - you beat "Good Morning America" AND "The View"!

I'd give anything for the opportunity to get an interview with any of these great musicians, you did superb job!
