William Blake’s Songs Of Innocence

The music for these renditions of William Blake’s Songs Of Innocence was written and recorded between October 2014 and May 2015. The music appears here with reproductions of Blake’s original illuminated prints, so that they can be listened to, viewed and read at the same time. To this purpose we have taken pains to ensure that each lyric is faithful to Blake’s original, without resort to any kind of modification, addition or repetition. Two minor exceptions to this rule seemed necessary: the poems The Little Boy Lost & The Little Boy Found have been performed as a single song as they are sequential, narratively linked and alike in form; and in Infant Joy the lyric is sung twice, in its entirety. If, despite our best efforts, we have erred in some other way – for instance, by changing or mispronouncing a word – we can only offer an apology in advance and hope that any mistake we may have made is so trifling as to be forgivable.

Jim Morrison – violin, mandolin

With vocals from Emma Tricca, Siobhan Parr and Bryony Afferson

The music is written and arranged by Alan Tyler and published by Bucks Music.

The recordings were made at Bark Studio, engineered by Brian O’Shaughnessy.
