Rising from the ashes of the amazing-yet-underappreciated Necro Hippies, NOLA's Mystic Inane is carrying the torch of hardcore punk for its city. If you remember the first, excellent Mystic Inane tape, the band took its "long lost 80s USHC classic" sound and injected it with an influence of No Trend, and this tape is no different. It's even a bit weirder, with an even more unhinged vocalist. Highly recommended. I guess the band has a new 7" coming out this year on a new Los Angeles label called Negative Jazz. I think the band needs to find a balance between the recording quality of the these two demos, but I think the upcoming 7" will be amazing!
