Herbert Howells: Fantasia for Cello and Orchestra
Richard Hickox / London Symphony Orchestra

Here's a work in the English pastoral tradition of Vaughan-Williams, composed around 1936. It seems fairly abstract to me - that is, it is only about the music itself. I decided to use abstract or semi-abstract photography to accompany it. Though some of it seems not to be that relevant, I enjoy playing the game of "what is that we're looking at?" and have the image slowly expand to reveal itself. Sometimes I still don't know what we are looking at, but that's okay.

Keep you ears open for an unusual effect. I think the cello is being strummed in places almost like a guitar -- correct me if I am wrong. This sounds a bit different from pizzicato and is like nothing I have ever heard before. Very creative!
