''Since their inception in early 2015, Seattle based YEAR OF THE COBRA, has garnered a lot of attention. Their early rough mixes eventually became their debut EP, The Black Sun co-released by DHU Records, Devil’s Child Records, and Heavy Metal Vomit Party.

Singer/bassist Amy Tung and drummer Jon Barrysmith met in 2007 while playing in separate bands. After moving to Seattle, they finally decided to start their own project. The first song they wrote together, White Wizard, only took a couple of hours, at which point YEAR OF THE COBRA was born.

They considered adding other members to the band, but found the ease and difficulty of playing in a duo more alluring. It took a while to find their signature sound. Amy knew she needed to split the bass tones and play through two rigs to get the right amount of highs and lows. Her ‘Rig Of Doom’ has not only made their sound huge and heavy, Jon’s dynamic, hard hitting drumming style has created the perfect compliment in the creation of YEAR OF THE COBRA. Their haunting, and deliberate riffs drive deep while Amy’s melodic vocals sail and weave tying the knot to this power duo.

YEAR OF THE COBRA’s highly anticipated full length LP, recorded, produced, and engineered by the legendary Billy Anderson (Sleep, Melvins, Acid King), will be released by STB Records in Fall of 2016. US and European dates to be announced.''
