Son on Bongo with classic variation by Jorge Santo - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jan 26, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Jorge Santo demonstrates a Son pattern on bongo with a 'classic' variation in between. Son pattern is a more syncopated version of basic Martillo. To achieve that a ghost (substantially softer) note is played on macho (high pitch drum) with the right hand instead of usual open on hembra (low pitch drum). The sound is followed by a 'harmonic slap' with the left hand on the macho, open on hembra and two opens of the macho. Son pattern on bongo is effective for Salsa when played fast.
It was recorded in April 2012 in Footes Music shop in Golden Square, London. The shop has recently been relocated to 41 Store Street, WC1E 7DB nearby Goodge Street tube station. Jorge is going to teach again @ Footes soon once the new studio is completed. For more info, please visit http://footesmusic.co.uk/page.asp?id=tuition
