DESCRIPTION:
This year at the Wanderlust Festival of Music and Yoga, Garth Stevenson led morning meditation hikes from the top of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. The 40+ participants rode the cable car to the top of the mountain then continued to ascend by foot following Stevenson with his double bass strapped to his back. Each day someone kindly volunteered to carry his battery-powered speaker and backpack full of video gear and his looping and reverb pedal. The mile-long hike ended at steep slope covered in wild alpine flowers next to a stream feeding from the melting glacial ice above. Weaving the tone of his bowed bass amongst the ambient nature sounds, Stevenson played forty-five minutes of meditative music followed by twenty minutes of silence. This video is an eight minute edit of seventy-five minute experience.
