Beatgridding is definitely easier and more precise than counting seconds like back in the days with a "real" record and a stop watch! ;-)

and WHY should you beatgrid your tracks (as much as possible):
- keep the sync of your tracks dead on
- create super precise loops
- use tempo based FX reliably
