As a member of Berlin's new generation of hiphop deejay's, Grizzly Adams began his career on the decks in Cologne in 1996, holding various residencies in clubs like Stadtgarten and Apropo. Thanks to the quality of his selections and his skills as a turntablist, he was soon asked to provide support for live performers such as Torch, The Brothers Keepers-project and Bantu. In 2003, he moved to Berlin, playing solo-sets at various clubs and continuining to build up a solid household name as a selector of eclectic urban music.
Due to the success of his dj-sets and live-performances, he was invited in 2008 to become a full-time member of the Beatevolution collective: a 4-man team who hold a residency in Berlin's well-known Cassiopeia club. Along with his colleague's behind the dj-booth, Grizzly now moves dance- floors on a weekly basis, drawing crowds of up to 1000 people with dj-sets that change every week. He knows how to play a crowd and how to stay up to date with new developments, be they underground or mainstream. The Beatevolution crew also uses its residency to organize concerts with international names including OFWGKTA, MF DOOM, Rakim, Mayer Hawthorne, Mac Miller, Dilated Peoples and many others.
Additional Projects:
Outside the dj-booth, Grizzly's life also revolves primarily around music: between 2007 and 2008, he assisted Native Instruments' in their develop- ment of the first generation of Traktor Scratch as a product specialist and beta-tester. While working as a product representative for Native Instru- ments at one of the international music fairs, he met producer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Dunloop. They formed a friendship based on mutual passions which soon resulted in the two of them collaborating on production work.
Grizzly was also asked by the Goethe Institute to provide dj-support for a cross-cultural project in Africa, visiting countries like Ghana and Uganda in 2005 and 2006. This project was followed by a tour in Germany with leading African urban artists like Eedris Abdulkareem, Mode9 and African China in 2007.
