DESCRIPTION:
In 2002 I found Melodic Death Metal. Though I don't remember anyone calling it that at the time. Just called it Gothenburg Metal....anyway thats not the point.
My point is I was always torn between three genres. Punk, Melodic Death Metal, and Bluegrass.
I wasn't happy playing either one entirely on their own. So I decided to mix them all together. Bands like korpiklaani and many others have taken their countries folk music and applied to metal. Why couldn't I do something similar with Bluegrass???
There have been a few Bluegrass Metal bands like Los Duggans and Uncle Fucker, but neither of them have done exactly what I'm trying to do. Though Los Duggans are still really frikin cool.
Several times I tried getting together with Banjo players, but none of them could figure out what I was trying to do. The banjo being an open chord instrument and the E chord relatively rare in Bluegrass it was a bit of a challenge to figure it out.
So since no one could figure it out, I decided to learn the instrument myself. I picked it up in July of 2010. Anyone thats picked up a banjo knows how difficult of an instrument it really is. Guitar is childs play compared to this damn thing, fun as it is...it just doesn't get along very well with metal.
Can it be done...of course....is it easy....HELL NO!!!
So here is my attempt as Bluegrass Metal....Out-Law Grass....Epic Bluegrass.....Black Grass.....Cow Punk....whatever its called.
