A video which reached the Number One spot on the Kerrang TV Chart Request Show, support slots with Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden/Wolfsbane), Esoterica, Dave Evans (AC/DC), The Black Mollys, Forever Never, Witchfynde & Black Spiders, plus a full UK Tour with Marseille, a successful debut album, a tour in Finland, & a place at Hard Rock Hell Ibiza Road Trip with all this you could be forgiven for thinking Exit State has been around for years. However, the early success of their high octane sound has been almost immediate, not least due to their crossover appeal to rock, metal, pop, punk, indie & alternative crowds alikeā€¦.
"the true joy of this band is their refusal to conform to stereotypes, combining metal, pop & plain old rock n roll effortlessly & without apologies" Black Velvet magazine ("Death Of A Rockstar" album review)
"Satisfyingly heavy, unexpectedly catchy, unashamedly experimental and curiously engaging. Impressive" - Rocksound Magazine ("Bad Days" EP review)
Lead vocalist & guitarist Roy Bright comments "The last 2 years have been amazing from first signing to King Prawn Records, to our professional management deal with Rocksector Records, the album release, the video on Kerrang TV its an awesome thrill ride for us. If you want something aggressive, edgy, dramatic & emotive our music has all that. We've been likened to Foo Fighters, Nickelback & Therapy but truthfully, although we're proud of those comparisons, they don't really cover it as we really are quite unique".
The line-up which released the first album was Roy Bright on lead vocals & rhythm guitar | "Texas" Peat Hicks on drums | Adam Stephenson on lead guitar | Phil Ireland on bass & backing vocals.
In September Adam Stephenson left the band for personal reasons & was replaced for the remainder of 2011 by Ollie Cordwell (of label-mates Fantasist), whilst a permanent replacement lead guitarist is chosen.
With new album "Black Veins" set for release on 3rd October 2011, to coincide with a full UK tour schedule, & a brand new video "Check Out The Crazy" headed for Kerrang TV, Exit State remain ideally-placed to build on their early success, not least with a fitting finale to the year when they play Hard Rock Hell V, alongside Ace Frehley, Therapy?, Black Stone Cherry & more.
