PUBLISHED:  Apr 19, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
So, time for a classic; Stormy weather, first performed 1933 by Ethel Waters and very popular also then. This recording was done one year before, the perhaps, most well known performance by Lena Horne and was done in the American movie with the same name.
Also some word about the well singing, English born artist Diana Miller (1916-1993); When Germany occupied Norway in 1940, she was at tour in Oslo and had to escape to Sweden. From what I can understand she had no idea to settle down in Sweden, from the beginning, she just waited for the war to end. But, she decided to live in Sweden, even if she also toured around in Europe after war. She left Sweden first in 1976. Living her final years at sunny Mallorca (without stormy weather ;-). When she did not touring she also owned some dance restaurants in Stockholm the most known was "Blue note" Before the war Diana Miller was working with some of the elite among British band leaders, for example Jack Hylton.

Seymour Österwall (1908-1981) and his orchestra was maybe not so known for an international public, most of the best Swedish bands was touring in Europe, but the best years of Seymour and his orchestra was during the war and touring in other countries was not so easy, so he stayed at home in Sweden and amused our public here. His sister Irmgaard Österwall was singer (I have presented her in some clips before) and his brother Artur was also musician
