DESCRIPTION:
This song was inspired by bits of conversation held with folks in two different towns, both suffering hard times economically. Both towns had seen big box stores recently opened on their outskirts, and both had fallen victim to bypassing freeways that diminished stop-off business. I didn't begin writing the song until one night when I heard a street lamping creaking in the wind. That reminded me of something... of many things.

This was recorded in 2005, in the kitchen at a farm called Svensrud, outside of Hemnes in rural eastern Norway. Magne Hellesjo plays bass, and Tone Stojka plays steel.
