Donovan Lyman - NORMANDY - a song about World War 2 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 26, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Blue Meridian front man Donovan Lyman will begin recording his 1st full fledged solo album before the end of 2011 (Avalon & Babylon & Me, some say was his 1st, but it still prominently featured the talents of the full Blue Meridian line up on multiple tracks). This one will be his greatest departure / leap forward (or sideways) yet.

The album theme will be Love & War (the working title). It will feature 12 new songs about the darker side of love and the darker side of humanity in general. Somehow it will not be all bitter (bittersweet perhaps). It will be innocent (and guilty), it will be optimistic (yet realistic). The "War" songs will cover a time span from The American Civil War through the September 11th 2001 tragedy. All of the "Love" songs will have a sense of "War" about them. Many of the "War" songs will also be "Love" songs.

"Normandy" is a "Love" song with a back drop of World War II, or perhaps it is a song about the "War" with an optimistic and innocent view due to the longing and "Love". Shot on location in and around Pioneertown, California on Easter Day 2011, performed live, capturing the raw essence & passion of the story, helped along by classic vintage images of The 2nd World War... this is NORMANDY.
