ROLLING SEA
There’s someone looking at me from a magazine
Like he wants to know me, he thinks maybe I'm lonely
He’s been everywhere that I have dreamed
Among the ash trays and the empties, there’s nothing left to tempt me
but the rolling sea
inside of the sun it’s darker than you think
outside looking in, all you can see is him
but the brightness you admire diminishes with drink
his shadow’s very thin, he sounds like a broken violin
the howling wind
he’s a bladder full of sins that he carries round with him
in the middle of a crowd he’s laughing out loud
he’s keeping it together, his shoes are made of leather
but the soles are full of holes, he’s slowly filling up with doubt
the rolling clouds
the pages of the magazine blacken in the fire
half his smile is broke, rising in the smoke
nothing but the solar wind is propelling him
inbetween the stars, I can still hear his laugh
so far away
