About De Nethermen About De NethermenDe Nethermen was a Sioux Falls based band that, for a time, pretended to be from the Netherlands. Original members James Jansma, Jesse Logterman and Chris Stienstra set out to write new wave style pop songs. After failing to do so and adding Danny Howd on bass, De Nethermen settled into another sound entirely. a dark, pulsing, operatic racket that Logterman started calling "evil church." Upon Howd's departure for Omaha, NE, De Nethermen added Pat Nelson on guitar and James switched back to bass. The songs started to move in a more rock n' roll and funk direction while retaining the pounding electronic beats that brought the band together. The final lineup was set when Josh Boyd joined on drums. Boyd brought an organic, unleashed vibe to the group while incorporating electronic sensibilities into his own playing. Finally the band was brought to an end when two of the members fought violently over a half-eaten pop tart. The five vowed to never speak again. until today. "Burn Together, Float Apart" coming April 7th. Reunion shows in the planning stages.
