DESCRIPTION:
Presenting the music video for "We're All Desi” from 'Delhi 2 Dublin'. This video is shot by Kedar Sonigra with a local cast and crew from the Dharavi slum in Mumbai - the largest slum in Asia. Based on their own experiences visiting the area on the recent tour of India, D2D were moved to provide a new narrative - something more ‘real’ than Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’ or Coldplay’s ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ & they wanted to confront people’s stereotypes of slums - to show them as living neighborhoods with normal people living full lives - not as exotic wallpaper for rockstars, or as poverty porn. Kedar built a story using some classic Bollywood themes, told in a new light through the lives of 5 young bantas (Mumbai slum slang for ‘cool dudes’) keeping it real in Dharavi.
