Album Notes

HEAL MY VIOLENCE is very much a conspicious blend of just about everything out in left field; indiepop, neo-classic music, avantgarde, atmospheric hymns, scandinavian folk and more. In a musical climate demanding for labelling, Elina has made exactly the difficulties to easy decide Dear Euphoria's genre into her multifarious music's greatest asset.

HEAL MY VIOLENCE goes against the grain with its at times quite experimental and unpolished music. Every piece lives its own little life. In the end it is the melancholistic soaring melodies and characteristic frail voice of Elina Johansson that ties it all together. Like a beautiful red thread running through the stilistic schizophrenia.

'Dear Euphoria (aka Elina Johansson) is dark and mysterious, not too unlike Stina Nordenstam in some regards, but warmer and approachable, more analog and more intimate.. When Elina lets loose those huge harrowing swoops, way up towards the ether. It sounds so eerie and other-worldly and, of course, quite beautiful.. Absolutely haunting.. Very recommended!'
-It's a trap (US)

'A wandering feather soundtrack. The beauty of Elina's voice remains but the music is more sophisticated. More audacious.. To me, Pop pills is the best and most interesting song I heard this year. To be listened LOUD. What are the Swedish labels waiting for ? I don't know. At least we have Heal my violence. A magical album. But watch out, I am talking about black magic here.'
- Absolut Noise (FR)

'Her musical universe is daring, dense, minimalistic, sophisticated and deeply modern carried out hand of Master by the excellent interpreter and composer Elina Johansson. One of my preferred albums of the year 2009'
- With Music In My Mind (BL)

'A very astonishing album between The Knife and Operette. Pop in its pure form'
-Zuckerkick (DE)

'Elina Johansson alias Dear Euphoria creates with minimal tools and merges pop and avantgarde to a fascinating melange'
-Roteraupe (DE)

8/10
- Popcultures (DE)
