What Are These Black Masala People Doing?!?
Great question! But first a little story. Black Masala came to fruition a little over 3 years ago in the basement of a row house in the groovy neighborhood of Bloomingdale in Washington, DC. Our first show in Columbia Heights was a smashing success and we knew then we might be on to something! We've seen several members come and go, but true to our passion and restless spirit, we've been able to log 200 plus shows over the last 3 years and record and release our own first record. With no plan of stopping, we CALL ON YOU to help us continue our success by helping us fund the recording of a New 3 Year Anniversary Album full of our own music. It's the 3 Year Anniversary of the band this year. Let's celebrate and make a music baby together!

Black Masala is Washington, D.C.'s own 8-piece Gypsy Music inspired Brass Band, and winner of two 2013 Washington Area Music "WAMMIE" Awards for "Best New Artist" and "Best World Album of the Year." Members of the band include:
Mike Ounallah – Vocals, Drums, Percussion
Kristen Long – Vocals, Percussion
Monty Montgomery – Sousaphone, Vocals, Percussion
Yannick LePage – Accordion
Kirsten Warfield – Trombone
Steven Cunningham – Trumpet
Duff Davis – Electric Guitar
Tomas Drgon – Guitar, Vocals, Percussion

What We Need & What You Get:
This campaign will help us to raise $5,000 towards the making of a brand new album being recorded in May 2015. We have many of the songs written already, and we feel like we will be putting out some of our strongest work to date.

Your contributions to this campaign will support: Recording, Mixing, and Mastering costs. Publicity and PR Representation. Tour Support. Remixes (Oh yeah!). Special guests... (It's a surprise). A New Tuba (Just Kidding! -- Monty plays Sousaphone). And a host of other costs that come into play when making a new album especially one with....count 'em.... 8 PEOPLE!!!!
