DESCRIPTION:
A very unusual chaconne by the French composer Pierre Gaultier. Composed in a transitional tuning (Eb C A F C G F Eb D Bb) between Renaissance and d minor Baroque. A unique middle campanella section includes the only example I have seen in lute music with fretted notes down to the 9th course. I commemorate the passage with a close up! Performed by Daniel Shoskes on an 11 course Tomlinson gut strung baroque lute.
