In 1991, Damon Johnson (guitar) and Glenn Maxey (bass guitar) were in a hard rock band called Chyld. They signed a development deal with Virgin Records through A&R man Aaron Jacoves. After working with different vocalists, Johnson was encouraged to front the band himself. Roman Glick was soon added on rhythm guitar, and Scott Collier joined as drummer the following year. Changing their name to Brother Cane, a debut album was released in 1993. Much touring followed as the band became a staple on rock radio ("Got No Shame" reached No.1). High profile tours with Robert Plant and Aerosmith, along with 200 headlining club dates, would make BC a dependable live act Maxey departed the band in late '94 and Glick switched to bass, his original instrument. Guitarist David Anderson was added and BC released the sophomore album, Seeds, in 1995. "And Fools Shine On" sat at No.1 on Billboard Magazine's Mainstream Rock chart for 5 weeks. The song would become the theme for the movie "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers" and Brother Cane opened several tour dates for Van Halen. The band released their 3rd and finest album, Wishpool, in 1998. Although the band enjoyed another No.1 with "I Lie In The Bed I Make" and toured with dear friends, Candlebox, record company apathy and strained internal relationships would see this become their final effort. All band members have gone on to continued careers in the music business, and Brother Cane reunited for two shows in 2005.
