The resurgent Superfreq brand here serves up their next dancefloor missive, this time from the Joint Custody duo, complete with remix from label boss Mr.C and close associate [a]pendics.shuffle.

Joint Custody are Matt Dillon and Joe Morgan - two musicians from Florida creating unique soundscapes as a product of their shared musical visions since 2007. Their love for electronic music brought them together in the studio and on the decks, but their musical journeys began long before their partnership and between them they have released on labels like Traum and Hallucination Ltd.

The vocal sample in the original track -- which was recorded in Tamp, Florida -- comes from a Charlie Sheen interview. It is chopped up and heavily filtered and bursts out with plenty of menace between the sharp edged percussion, drilling tech house beats and occult synths. Plenty of abstract digital FX also litter the soundscape of the track as it pushes on through all sorts of sci-fi mystery.

It's the boss himself Mr.C who turns in the first remix of the track, stripping it of some of the alien tension and instead layering up plenty of wonky, bulbous synths, classic cowbell pings and dusty hi hats that just roll and roll. Various peaks and troughs keep you on your toes throughout,
with crisp production a defining feature.

The second remix comes from Kenneth James Gibson in his [a]pendics.shuffle guise; in this man's hands the track feels much more organic, with real sounding pianos and lingering instruments hanging in the air above the clicky beats and claps. It's a much moodier, late night affair that closes the release, 'Wait' featuring Bob Skies. This one is all filled with electric energy and detailed FX that scurry across the face of the claps and kicks. It's truly eerie with its searching synths and tight rhythms, and that's even before the imposing voice of Bob Skies gets bled into the mix.

This final track closes out an EP that really offers something for everyone, from dark and introverted to more heartfelt and emotional.
