"There is no Greater Love" Bill Barnes Trio w/ Wayne Delano - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 20, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
An extemporaneous arrangement caught at Rock City Cafe in March, 2012. This classic 1936 standard by Isham Jones and Marty Symes has been covered by a diverse range of singers from Billie Holiday to Amy Winehouse and instrumentalists such as McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, Lenny Breau, Miles Davis, Joe Pass among so many others. This is a longish, laid-back version, but I dug the interplay between the musicians and the reharmonization. Sometimes it's fun to take your time with a tune and explorer the nuances. Most will recognize the guitar intro, which is based on "My Romance" by Rogers and Hart.

Wayne Delano, tenor sax; Bill Barnes, guitar; Alan Wotton, bass; Jason Dean, drums.
Recorded at Rock City Cafe, Rockland, Maine, in March, 2012.
