Percussionist keen on Afro-Caribbean music, born with hiphop, and raised on the Headhunters and on Fania's productions, a one of a kind singer showing a tempered tone on distorted texts written to the "clave" as he likes saying – Fabien "Pakin" Hily's new project was waiting only to come out.

"I wanted this new project to be utterly uncluttered, coming down to the very essence of a rhythm, a text and a guest to take the highest risk and trigger almost unlimited development while sticking to the same primary principle, that is the reason why this project is called *HILYMITADO* (unlimited) "

It is obviously somewhere between Paris and New York, between Jazz and Latin music that Fabien "Pakin" Hily's new production * HILYMITADO * had to find its way.
And he naturally grabbed the interest of the rising label LATIN BIG NOTE (LBN records), a heavy hitter in producing and promoting Latin music through New York prism.
A concept that appears obviously simple or simply complex.
A beat, a voice, a guest, whether from France or New York.
This brand new production is blowing a breath of fresh air into the Jazz idea of infusing improvisation into a piece of music and an artist's world.
"I'm not inviting these artists for what I want them to do but for what they're good at doing, for their talent, their musical color – for their worlds to impact on the very genetics of my project."

Worlds, and by no means insignificant ones as he indulges, for his first opus, in the luxury of inviting New York Jazz pianists such as Cory Henry (Snarky Puppy), Danilo Perez (Wayne Shorter), legendary Eddie Palmieri, but also French pianists like Florian Pellissier (Setenta, Guts..) or Caribbean Jazz pianist Thierry Vaton...

"As for the recording process, I worked with drummer Mathieu Edward beforehand because I wanted everything to run smooth, in terms of beat and voice.
Working with Mathieu Edward at the drums seemed evident to me when I heard his drum line check at a concert we had in Madrid with SETENTA. He threw a beat and I felt like throwing some lyrics right away. I thought, he's the one... He has all the influences I was looking for in this project, I love the way he plays, the way he sounds, and he's a friend. It doesn't get better than this!"

Grounding his experience as a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist musician, Fabien "Pakin" Hily offers us a beautiful object to listen to as a matter of urgency.
