Dick Hafner - WAKE UP SILLY BOY (Gold Star Studio) (1964) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 28, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Valiant 6044-B) Out of Los Angeles, a fantastic, big sounding double-sider with the B-side featured here. 'Wake Up Silly Boy' from the spring of 1964, is one of a handful of singles issued by Dick Hafner and the only release on Valiant. This crooner, who's vocal style sounds like a melding of the voices of Mike Clifford and Neil Sedaka, is planted firmly in his element on this George Tipton arranged tune. The Blossoms on background vocals and L.A.'s 'Wrecking Crew are as usual, in top form on the brassy and percussive backing track that features the dynamic sound of the Gold Star studio echo chamber.
