Step To Every Pit formed in 2000. Over the last decade, many changes have occurred, as the entity that is STEP has grown to its current maturity. Brothers Jody and Paul Logan, and long-time family friend Rod Jones met in 1978, and have been working together since 2003. The three have always shared a love for music, as well as their now-realized dream of writing and performing great metal music. Some of their biggest influences were Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, KISS, Metallica and Judas Priest. Guitarists RJ Diaz and Rodzilla give STEP the grinding Two-Guitar Sound the band is known for. Rodzilla and RJ share many of the same 70's, 80's and 90's metal influences such as: Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Damage Plan, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Testament and Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society. Together they have molded a dual-tone that is heavy, thick with harmonic depth, and diverse in its style and phrasing. They have forged an intense chemistry that has helped bring the band to its best song writing to date. On Dec. 6, 2007, Step To Every Pit welcomed long-time drummer Jody Wheatley to the family. Jody's extensive experience includes four records released by a German Record label in Europe and Japan, and 18 years with his brother Brent Wheatley (RIP), in the band that recorded the albums: Manifest Destiny. With his longtime love of metal bands like Slayer, The Misfits, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Testament (Dave Lombardo is his favorite!), Jody was an instant fit with the musical chemistry that the band shares.
