Back To the Planet @ King John, Peckham '89 Pt.2 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 13, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Part 2 of a Back to the Planet gig from the King John pub, Peckham, in 1989 - the year before the Poll Tax Riots which ended Thatcher's regime. This was the original band - Fil, Guy, Carl, Henry and Alex - one of the most popular underground groups of the time who rocked free festivals as well as colleges, clubs and squat parties - they even did TOTP and Glasto. They are still rockin' the custard now - as a band and in individual projects.
The gig was filmed by David Somerset and Simon Eve of Fisheye Films; in one of the baddest - but best music - pubs in South East London.
The sound was mixed by Bevan Burke, who also played bass in support band Primary Colours; also supporting were One Style MDV (Many Different Variations), a superb reggae band from Hackney who are still recording under different names.
The audience are mainly connected to the Dole House Crew, who were squatting the ex-benefits building in Peckham, putting on great all-nighters every fortnight.
