David Paskell

I am a singer and songwriter born and raised in the city of Sheffield in England. My mothers side of the family are from Wales (my grand mother williams ) My grandfathers name was Paskell, as its my mothers maidan name I thought I would use it.
I have been a vocalist in various Sheffield bands over the years. Some good ones, some not so good.
The last band I was in was Root Fish (dance, dub, rock music) as their singer which I did for a few years. I turned my back on music for a while and left Sheffield and headed out to Ireland. I spent two years in Galway working in various jobs that were not musical in anyway. But all the time I was soaking up the sights and sounds of Eire. It was here that I began to compose songs again after not being able to write any new songs at all I became inspired by the music I heard out in the west coast and else where. I returned home to Sheffield from Galway after two years away, These new songs I wrote represented a change of direction from my previous work. Folk music, Alt country and Irish trad all had a big part to play in this my musical rebirth.I not claim to be a folk or traditional musician, though I do love this music after all it does have a huge influence me l. I have the up most respect for people who are !
Punk was the first music that meant something to me and is still there in my heart and head.
