This guitar was inspired by Chris Martin's visit to the Gamble House in Pasadena California, an Arts & Crafts Period architectural masterpiece. It is a dreadnought sized body of flamed mahogany and bearclaw spruce. The body binding and for 3 bowtie insets along the center back seam are rosewood and are decorative only. The pearl inlay in the peghead and fingerboard have a thin border of gold mother of pearl with a twist at each corner. Position inlays are pearl gingko leaves and a gingko leaf appears on the peghead along with the C F Martin block letter logo. The braces are scalloped, the top features herringbone trim and a 3-ring rosette. The ebony pyramid bridge is in the style of Stauffer. Other "Arts and Crafts" appointments are the brown pickguard made of leather fibers, antique gold finish enclosed gears. The label is signed by C.F. Martin IV and numbered 46 - only 100 were made. Leather covered Geib style case with antique gold hardware. Full gloss finish including neck, aging toner on top, bone nut and saddle.
Low profile neck with ebony fretboard (1-11/16" nut, 25.4" scale). List Price new: $5799. This one shows only the slightest use with a tiny "ding" in the lower bout, bass side.
