DESCRIPTION:
Truly great black metal from San Francisco...formed circa 2000 by drummer Glüm, who enlisted Vermithrax (guitar) and brothers Fyist and Doom (on guitar & bass respectively). Artificium Sanguis was unique among their Bay Area black metal contemporaries (Black Goat, Sangre Amado, Ludicra, Weakling) in that they were the only band in the city playing in the "true" raw, necro corpsepainted style associated with European bands such as Darkthrone, Immortal, Horna, Old Wainds and the like.
At one time or another Artificium Sanguis had featured members from Impaled, Exhumed, Black Goat, Animosity and Ghoul, among others; plagued by constant lineup changes (particularly in the drummer department, a la Spinal Tap), sadly the band dissolved in 2007, leaving behind the rare, ironically titled Ye Olde Demo Taype 3-song cdr as their only release. An assault of razor-shredded howls (from the amazing Drakk) & fast, thrashing grimness (blasting courtesy of Glüm, a.k.a. the great Leon del Muerte, legendary member of Impaled, Exhumed, Intronaut, Murder Construct, Nausea and about a dozen others), yet with catchy and extremely well-written riffs...these songs are like being caught in a hailstorm of nails, and they still destroy today as strongly as they did in 2003...HAIL ARTIFICIUM SANGUIS...666
