The Queen's Hall and the Traditional Music Forum, with support from Creative Scotland, present The Martyn Bennett Prize for traditional music composition which seeks to raise the profile and reward the vital role that composition plays in Scotland’s traditional music. Named in honour of the acclaimed composer/multi instrumentalist Martyn Bennett, the competition was open to all Scottish-based musicians to create a new 5 - 10 minute long composition that shows its roots in traditional music. The band features Seonaid Aitken (violin, viola), Fraser Fifield (bagpipes, small pipes, whistles, soprano sax), Colin Train (accordion, piano, keyboards), Graeme Stephen (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), Andrew Sharkey (double bass, electric bass) and Laura Baxter (keyboards).
