Carbonne is widely recognised as a genius for his technical mastery of the electric bass guitar, both traditional and heavily augmented, multi-string bass guitar analogues (he also plays upright). Often, such technical mastery overshadows musicality. But not here. In this album, Carbonne and Eyango weave a magic of voice and (bass) guitar of profound beauty and musical charm, often with great simplicity. The album is pervaded by songs with a deep blues feel, and often moving lyrics. This is music of beauty and feeling, underpinned by exquisite musicianship.

In addition to the talented vocalist Guillaume Eyango (featured on Carbonne's premiere album "Seven Waves"), "A Life" also includes a very special guest appearance by the legendary Marcus Miller.
