Get Well Soon is the musical project of 27 year old classically trained singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Konstantin Gropper. Hailed by Music Week as 'the bastard child of Radiohead and Bright Eyes', Get Well Soon already released 2 very successful albums in Europe. A former student of philosophy, whose influences include Schoenberg and Franz Kafka, Get Well Soon is not your typical indie artist. With a voice residing somewhere between Nick Cave and Thom Yorke, his songs roam effortlessly between genres – from folk and electro to classical and tango – incorporating an assortment of instruments including guitars, trumpets, timpani, glockenspiel, banjo and accordion.
Get Well Soon blends music and sound from all over the world - from folk to electro, classical to European brass, Morricone soundtracks to tango. It is the musical vision of 26 year old Berlin based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and Philosophy student - Konstantin Gropper. The first two albums received great critical applause, with comparisons to Sigur Ros, Bright Eyes, Tom Waits, Beirut, Patrick Wolf and Nick Cave.
Konstantin was raised in the countryside at the very southwest of Germany, his father is a classical music teacher and has had a great influence on Konstantin's work. He moved to Dublin (Ireland) in 2005, before finally settling in Berlin (Germany). Live Konstantin is augmented by a five-piece band, which includes Konstantin's sister (backing vocals and violin).
Gropper is also a composer of film scores; one of the compostions for Wim Wenders' (Paris, Texas / Buena Vista Social Club) film Palermo Shooting (nominated at the Cannes Film Festival 2008).
His latest album Vexations is a truly beautiful work, one that sparks the imagination with its poetic depth, classical montages and haunting panoramic mood mosaics. A concept album of sorts, Gropper says the album "is about the feeling of calmness, after managing vexations, the album isn't about vexation itself, it is about dealing with that vexation" The album title is taken from a piece of piano music by Erik Satie first printed in 1949.
