TIPTOE was born and raised mostly in Los Angeles, Ca. with a few extended stays in Detroit in between. East Coast or West, there was always good music in the house. Maybe that explains the blend of smooth rhythms and hard beats that mark TIPTOE’s music and his persona.

Hailing from a musical family, TIPTOE calls upon generations of talent and gift for his unique style and artistry. It is believed that his great, great, grandfather co-wrote the Negro Nation anthem, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing.” Continuing the bloodline, TIPTOE’s uncle is Byron Miller, bassist extraordinaire. Miller played bass for many of the “old-school” artists that TIPTOE admires and emulates like Marvin Gaye. For 16 years Miller toured with Luther Vandross, and before that with George Duke, Chaka Khan and Santana. TIPTOE takes great pride in his uncle’s professional music accomplishments and hopes to provide for his own family through the success of his rapping and music management.

This young rapper is more than just that, he’s an aspiring businessman with a wide ranging focus. Having been influenced by the likes of Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Snoop on the artistic side; and Russell Simmons, Baby Face Edmonds, Bill Gates, Magic Johnson and Bob Johnson on the business front, TIPTOE is out to make his mark among the next generation of rappers AND entrepreneurs.

Carrying the goal of establishing his own recording and distribution company, doing movie soundtracks, script and song writing as well as producing other artists, TIPTOE has gotten a solid start with his original tracks. A soon to be released CD contains tracks like “In My Hood” and “Let’s Get Paid” that reflect the life stories TIPTOE wants to communicate while keeping it real. The first to admit that he hasn’t always “kept to the straight and narrow,” still he knows that he’s a good person inside. He has something to offer—a valuable contribution he wants to make. He relates to the struggle of “real people” and wants to share his stories of the life cycle with them.

TIPTOE is very focused on being successful in the professional music realm. He takes it to the heart. “I feel chills when my music is right, when it’s real and not manufactured. I feel the music in me. I hear the melody and the beat inside. The words enter and it’s as if I’m watching a movie, but it’s a true story. I have a real story that I believe should be told.”

He’s been through it and through his music he strives to make it all good in the end. One glance at the determination in his striking green eyes and you know he’s kept it real. Or as he puts it, “If you knew me, you’d love me. “

Stand by for TIPTOE’S upcoming CD release in 2008.
