For a man with a nasal voice and a sharp southern twang, you would think, soft spoken songs would not be a good match for me. Yet it is soft spoken music that appeals to me the most. I was raised with Hank Williams and George Jones but It is artists like Don Williams and Vince Gill that have always possessed my heart. I guess I'm just an old romantic at my core.

David N. Hanner Put together one of the most beautiful songs that I ever heard, called 'Lord I Hope This Day Is Good'. Don Williams recorded it in 1982 and it haunts me to this day. It's not a long or complicated piece of lyrics but the words somehow get right down to the roots of what matters. This is a capital example of what I think makes for a successful song.
