CROSSROAD BLUES BAND FROM MACEDONIA!!!!

CrossRoad Blues Band is a musical formation, which has chosen the blues as its musical platform and with a Sisyphean persistence exists on the fragile Macedonian blues scene succeeding to resist the waves of the actual music directions. The group started working in the middle of the nineties of the twentieth century. Dvorcanec Aleksandar-Sale (vocal and harmonica) and Branko Neskoski-Bane (guitar) formed it and they still move the group's compact nucleus not allowing lost of the magic of the initial enthusiasm.

Despite the fact that the group was formed in the nineties, when the rock stories are already past, the story of CrossRoad Blues Band is not very different from the ones in the sixties and seventies. A contribution for this kind of situation is the fact that the group works in Prilep (town in the southwest part of Macedonia) where despite the general process of globalization, all things go very slowly.

Sale gets in touch with Bane; they both from the local musicians choose the group's members and start their work in an old house out of town. Soon after that, they become a local attraction, mostly because of the big number of musicians on the scene (nine) and the unexpected sound they produce. They have numerous concerts in Prilep and the neighbourhood towns.

In the beginning of 2000, the group records its first single "Kade e krajot?" ("Where's the end?")- Remake of Buddy Guy or Tom Hyatt's music (not precisely fortified) according Sale's text. Dragan B. Kostic (the most famous radio disk jockey in the national radio) noticed this single, which with his comments and available space in the air in a great deal helped the group to gain its broader popularity. Thanks to him, CrossRoad Blues Band manages to get terms in the studios of the Macedonian Television to record its first album named as "Tutun Bluz" (Tobacco Blues).

The motives treated in the CrossRoad Blues Band's songs are from the social sphere and the problems of the ordinary man, which are a common theme in the blues. Curiosity presents the Macedonian text in the songs. Immediately after the recording of the album, CrossRoad Blues Band got offer to participate to the prestigious Blues&Soul Festival in Skopje, There CrossRoad Blues Band had their first performance side by side with blues masters from all around the world. A number of concerts in the Macedonian towns and clubs follow. One of the most significant is the performance on the BLUES & SOUL festival in Skopje in 2001, where they received recognition from the world's blues scene. The first international performance of the group was on the ROCK & BLUES concert in Sofia -- Bulgaria, where they "meted out" the forces of the most renowned Bulgarian musicians. From Sofia the group two years in succession played on the International Music Festival in Gabrovo -- Bulgaria, where it represented Macedonia and was its unique representative. Important are and the performances on the Macedonian Blues Summit in a company with the most famous Macedonian blues lovers, which every year takes place in Skopje
