Fronted by songstress Melissa Cameron of Vancouver and emcee Paul Henke of Guelph Ontario, the now Toronto based band wordPEOPLE has been studiously establishing themselves as a group that offers listeners a distinctive Pop sound with Urban influences since 2005. Their first contribution to the recorded arts was the EP "PLAYONWORDS Vol. 1" in 2006, which was funded by prize monies allocated from winning 91.5fm The Beat's "Rhythm of the Future" talent search in Kitchener/Waterloo. Positive response to the effort saw the band playing regularly in Ontario alongside Canadian talents such as K'Naan, Down With Webster and God Made Me Funky.

Capitalizing on the success of PLAYONWORDS, the group put forth a full length effort in 2008 entitled "PEOPLE'S EATERY." Showcasing their growth since the ep, the album was received as a ".funky, fun, danceable and remarkably mature" offering. Campus radio immediately recognized the originality and quality of the product and within three months of its release, the album charted on !earshot and CHARTattack top spins lists in early 2009, where it remained for thirteen weeks and peeked at the number two spot. Using the album as a marketing tool also allowed the group to secure licensing agreements for radio and television: earlier this year, the track "Keep Up" featuring Louwop was used in Global's "Rookie Blue."

In 2010, the band has coupled extensive songwriting and live show development with expanding their audience through events such as the "Niagara Summer Concert Series." and Toronto music festivals. On November 2nd, wordPEOPLE released the infectious single "Run For Your Life" in anticipation of a Summer 2011 ep offering.
