ORO 11 • BERSA DISCOS / TORMENTA TROPICAL (LA)

Bersa Discos is a record label based in Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Francisco, California. Bersa is brought to you by Oro11 and Disco Shawn, two Bay Area DJs who moved to Buenos Aires (separately) and found themselves swimming in a sea of experimental cumbia mayhem. After hooking up in the Buenos Aires DJ circuit, the boys quickly realized that many of the local cumbia sounds were never being given a proper release. Bersa Discos was launched to change all that. Together they started the legendary party series TORMENTA TROPICAL - a place where the underground sounds of the U.S. and Latin America collide. From cumbia crunk to baltimore baile and dancehall electro to sonidero hip-hop, the night is an international soundclash where the first and third world party side by side.

JUSTIN GRADIN (E.R)

Justin Gradin runs Cassette or Die, an anachronistic micro label that only releases music on cassette. He fronts the band Random Cuts, a rock outfit where two of the band's members are mannequins. And for years he ran The Emergency Room, a now defunct studio, jam space and venue that was a hub for this city's weird punk music scene.
