From Leonard King "At the time of this recording—titled "Underground Coaster"—Ron English, Marlene Rice, and I were members of the Lyman Woodard Organization (his last full-time working band which disbanded in December 1988). James Carter was still living in Detroit and had only graduated from high school the previous year. Dave Cox and I were members of Roy Brooks' Aboriginal Percussion Choir. Kenny Green, William Townley, and I were part of a musicans' cooperative, and my brother Atiba and I went way back to the early 1960's when I formed a group that became known as Leonard King and the Soul Messengers (September 1963-March 1973). This footage is from a benefit concert I organized for bassist Ali Jackson Sr who left us two weeks later."
