in theory - genesis (feat. william lane craig): epic philosophical nu-jazz/hip-hop - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 07, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
through this video, i'm very excited and privileged to formally announce my second album, "illuminate"! the album is an effort to musically survey and frame my journey through the halls of Christian philosophy over the past few years, and to present the Christian worldview in a philosophically coherent, compelling, and defensible way. the tracks aim to explore the weighty existential inquiries that have been on the hearts and minds of men since time immemorial; as explicated by ravi zacharias, they are our efforts to fathom our origin, meaning, morality, and destiny.

as ineffably affected by the recent resurgence of Christian thought in philosophical academia, my deepest desire for this album is for it to serve as flint that might rekindle the embers towards theistic belief in countries where the Christian worldview has been pejoratively caricatured beyond recognition; to help shape, as Christian philosopher william lane craig characterizes, a cultural milieu in which the Christian worldview can be recovered as a live option for the thinking person, in a part of the world where nietzsche, hume, and sartre have supplanted solzhenitsyn, c.s. lewis, and dostoyevsky. music is often poetically labeled as the most universal of langauges, and so i pray that God might use this album to discernibly send His message of truth and love to people i wouldn't otherwise have the ability to communicate with.

the first track off my new album is titled "genesis", and is a framing of the three-way intersection between the biblical account of creation, the standard model of modern cosmology, and recent work in the philosophy of time. perhaps more than anything, i wanted to instill in this the sense of wonder and awe we would feel if we were able to turn back the dial of time and personally witness the mighty hand of God bringing into being the entire created order.

much love and God bless,
in theory/peter kim
