DESCRIPTION:
The final track from Elton John's 1982 album "Jump Up!" It was also single in England. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics, based on the German World War One novel by Erich Maria Remarque, after hearing the music Elton had already written. Elton changed one of Taupin's original lines which referred to "thin white men in stinking tents," though he reportedly sang the line occasionally in concert.
