Bio:
"Meet Me Half The Way" by Portland Oregon's Smoochknob is about finding your place in life and finding your "people" Donnie Rife (lead singer / drummer) started to write the song when his wife was 8 months pregnant with their first child, Julian (Jude) now four years old. He left it unfinished, mainly because it was not a typical Smoochknob pop punk anthem. Fast forward two year later... Smoochknob started working on their new album DRIVE BY HIGH FIVE. They decided early on not to stick to the normal formula used to guide them in the past. Instead, agreeing "Let's just record the best songs we have, regardless of them fitting into our normal style". Donnie had a back log of pop songs and song ideas that he and Javier Canteras (lead guitarist) started laying down. The end result is what many have described as Smoochknob's most mature and game changing release to date. "Our goal was to record an album without worrying about sounding like the previous records. We all love and write so many different types of music. We wanted to showcase this on our new record. Javi and I -- and I think most artists are in the same boat -- have tons of songs that we put into that "someday I will do a side project with these songs" folder. This release allowed us to explore that folder, and be true to ourselves as song writers". Don't get the wrong idea, though. The new album does have a consistency to it. It sounds like Smoochknob. Donnie's pop hooks and catchy, infectious songs abide. "The dude abides"
