Neo Classical Dreams - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Neo Classical Dreams is a very old song. I think I started writing this song in the early 90's. When I first came to Columbus Ohio (1989) I had already had about 10 years of guitar playing under my belt, but I was inexperienced, undisciplined and just plain sloppy. I had not long ago come out of the military and friends everywhere were telling me to check these guitarist in Columbus Ohio. One of them was Neil Zaza and the other was Bryon Shepherd. Watching these two guitar wizards was like watching Malmsteen or Macalpine in concert and they played out about once a week.

Ive met both of them and talked to them many times at the end of their gigs, but Bryon, was the one that I connected with the most, especially when I found out he actually gave guitar lessons. Long story short, I talked to Bryon and actually took Neo Classical lessons from him. I never really turned loose in front of Bryon because I was always a bit nervous playing in front of him, so I dont think he ever knew what kind of level I was on as far as technique. As far as the harmonic minor scales, I was clueless. This guy showed me so much that I couldn't keep up with the lessons.

I practiced what he taught me for years and I ended up developing some what of a Neo Classical style. In those days everyone and their brother were copying Yngwie and Macalpine and so was I.

Anyway... this is a very old recording..... It was fun to do, but its basically just a harmonic finger excercise that I adapted for music. Its not real fast or anything and quite a bit sloppy... but it was my best attempt at Neo Classical back in those days.
