DESCRIPTION:
First released in july 1978 on the album "Nite Flights" (Sony Music), this version is from the 2001 release "If You Could Hear Me Now" (Columbia). Composed and Written by Scott Walker. Featured in the 2008 movie "Bronson".

In a 1984 radio interview he supposedly stated the song is about american torturers work in South America. Though i couldn't find any credible source for this, only user comments. The journalist Ned Raggett writes "Referring to the brutal right-wing regimes of Chile and Argentina, specifically their grotesque record regarding torture".
